His skills include adolescent and adult psychiatry, hypnotherapy, group therapy, marital and family therapy, and psychopharmacology.
In today’s mental health market, almost all professionals either practice psychotherapy (social workers or psychologists) or prescribe medication (psychiatrists). Dr.Mirro is one of the very few providers of combined intensive psychotherpay and psychopharmacology. Treatment always starts with a full evaluation to determine diagnoses, major current needs and a treatment plan. Any medication program includes the patient checking with the doctor every few days by phone to allow for safe, slow addition of new medication with continuous supervision. If psychotherapy is used, the goals are worked out jointly by the patient and the doctor.
Dr. Mirro received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine (Bellevue Hospital) in New York City. He interned at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York City) and his psychiatric residency was completed at Mt. Sinai Hospital (New York City). Since joining Tao Integrative Medicine, Dr. Mirro has enjoyed working with specialists in eastern and western medicine to offer patients a full range of healing options. Patients with pain issues, psychological problems and biochemical symptoms, for example, can get help from more than one member of the Tao staff in a coordinated fashion. Communication between therapists guarantees that all aspects of the patient are considered when treatment plans are designed.
